WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?

What is wrong with you people, hiding behind a church and steeple,

Pouncing on the sanctuary of a public library, afraid of the frank and true,

Fleeing from the presence of the LGBTQ.

As if we were a threat to you and not a vulnerable group.

Mere creatures of sin in your alphabet soup.

What's wrong with you people and how is it your creed,

To rise and decide what we can and cannot read?

No matter how quick and cunning your way,

There is no book on earth that can turn someone gay.

Yet there is guidance in books that gay children need.

To stem the tide of gay suicide, to stop its monstrous bleed.

What's wrong with you people who trample on rights,

In this small little town you're a curse and a blight.

A vocal minority, ignorant of the Constitution, its power and its reach.

Bulldozing down my freedom of speech.

It's your prerogative and your right to propagate hate.

To utter the falsehoods while the rest of us wait.

Wait for the scales to fall from your eyes,

For truth and compassion to fill up your skies

For true Christianity to show up at your church.

For every person, straight and gay, to realize their worth.

What's wrong with you people, like Trump and DeSantis,

You preach dystopian values and these are what you practice.

To restrict your own child's reading is fine but I'll be damned if I let you mess with mine.

This is still the land of the free, so please do not dishonor me, with your hatred and your bile,

Show the world a touch of grace and a modicum of style.

What is wrong with you people, hiding behind church and steeple?

Pouncing on the sanctity of a public library, afraid of the frank and true.

Fleeing from the presence of the LGBTQ

As if we were a threat to you and not a vulnerable group.

Mere creatures of sin in your alphabet soup.
